Join our Team! Behavioral Health Connections is a psychiatric mobile and tele-vide assessment service which provides mental health evaluations to patients experiencing mental health crisis. Our dedicated call center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and staffed by knowledgeable and caring Call Center Specialists who are the first point of contact for our referral sources. As a psychiatric assessment service provider, we offer patients in crisis mental health evaluations to determine and locate the most appropriate level of care.

BHC in Houston is seeking a dynamic and talented Mobile Assessor to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals.

Job Requirements

The Mobile Assessment Team Evaluator (“Assessor”) provides mental health assessments for contracted emergency rooms and/or hospitals, recommends the appropriate level of treatment based on the Assessor’s assessment of risk factors, and triages patients to appropriate services.   

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently assesses mental health of patients in contracted emergency rooms and/or hospitals.
  • Must be able to facilitate transport to various hospitals within multiple counties.
  • Completes documentation related to the mental health assessment of patients.
  • Determines potential of risk to patient and others based on individualized assessment.
  • Provides Crisis Intervention for patients, as necessary.
  • Relies upon clinical training and acumen to determine the most appropriate course of treatment/level of care for patient.
  • Provides treating physician and ER Supervisor with level of care recommendation.
  • Discusses patient’s status, history, and level of care recommendation with patient’s family members, if available.
  • Counsels patients regarding recommended level of care; and provides at least three (3) referral choices to patient when the recommendation includes an inpatient/outpatient psychiatric/CD facility.
  • Initiates commitment process if necessary.
  • Initiates Memorandum Of Transfer process with ER RN/Director.
  • Provides ER/hospital with copy of completed assessment form and recommendations.
  • Tracks and submits list of patients seen, time of assessments and disposition of each matter to supervisor.
  • Adheres to all BHC and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all hospital service excellence standards.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health or related field.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  • Current license in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (“LPC”), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (“LMFT”), Licensed Master Social Worker (“LMSW”), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (“LCSW”), or Registered Nurse (“RN”).
  • Current CPR, if required by a customer hospital. (“Customer hospital” means the hospital to which BHC is contracted to provide mobile assessment services.)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of appropriate internship, including the provision of individual, group or family therapy/counseling.
  • Experience providing individual, group and family therapy/counseling.
  • Mobile assessment experience preferred.
