Business and Operations PM II – Microsoft – Redmond, WA

Are you a finance or a procurement professional with deep experience with device and server supply chain and procurement? The COSINE team in Azure has an open role for a team-first, motivated learner that offers room to grow and a chance to join our mission: driving the modernization of our engineering operations systems and process. This role is for a procurement sourcing manager who will be responsible for the development, ownership, communication, and implementation of commodity strategies for lab equipment procurement that aligns to the team’s vision of modernizing engineering operations.

  • Develop, own, communicate, and implement strategies for lab equipment procurement that aligns to the team’s vision of getting the right product in the right place, at the right time.
  • Provide function expertise and leadership in software and hardware sourcing, supplier management, and inventory management. Ensure creation of robust negotiation strategies and cost targets through understanding of market dynamics, benchmarks and cost trends.
  • Conduct request for proposals (RFPs) and be capable of performing bid leveling, and communicating recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Provide purchasing leadership to internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Ability to trouble shoot quality/delivery issues.
  • Identify and implement process and procedure improvements.
  • Periodically review existing contracts to ensure the contract rights & obligations are being properly administered.
  • Understands finance, accounting, procurement and inventory processes and standards. Can provide project teams guidance on approaches to resolve concerns and contractual disputes.
  • Instill a data-driven approach to managing business services and continually optimizing processes to increase impact to Engineering teams in Azure.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a finance or technical field (engineering, construction management or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in project management, procurement, supply chain, quality or other related fields.

Preferred qualifications:

  • High-integrity – must be ethical and strong value-based individual focused on fairness and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Have a “sense of urgency” to issue resolution.
  • Be an excellent communicator and team player. Capable of presenting complex processes and topics in a simplistic manner.
  • Be able to effectively multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Take initiative to ask questions and prevent issues before they happen
  • Focus on future service improvements
  • Understand the importance of relationships inside the company and with our supply chain partners.
  • High energy a drive to achieve results in midst of ambiguity and matrixed org.
  • Familiarity with common process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six-Sigma, etc.) and ability to facilitate change management.
  • Ability to implement new processes and get buy in from a cross functional team.
